The global corona pandemic caused obligatory travel restrictions, which also affected the market for short-term rentals. FIBARO and AUTORUN have joined forces to propose a completely new approach to this business.
Airbnb, Booking.com and other popular platforms around the world have become a source of income for people who provide rooms or entire flats for short-term rental. Renting out accommodation involves risks and costs that are mainly incurred by tenants, such as permanently open windows despite the heating being on, lighting of unused rooms, leaking water or gas. These avoidable costs pose a major problem for property owners, reduce their return on investment and significantly increase the time spent by the owner/manager of the accommodation. The implementation of the Sharelock system based on reliable FIBARO components allows for the elimination of these inconveniences.
– During my business trips I have often used short-term rentals. I observed some shortcomings of existing solutions – both for guests and for owners/managers of rental accommodation. My engineering soul did not let me pass by these circumstances without action.
– Błażej Gawęcki, CEO of AUTORUN.
The basic version of the offered packages fully automates the check-in process and replaces common solutions such as key safes with numeric codes. The package also includes the FIBARO HOME CENTER and FIBARO door/ window sensors. The guest receives a text message with a unique code for the lock and thus gains access to the accommodation for the duration of the booking, while the owner of the flat is informed about the opening of the door during this time. In the extended package, security is also provided by detecting smoke and flooding through FIBARO sensors. In Sharelock’s most comprehensive package, the intelligent system also takes care of the lighting in the flat and switches it off during the absence of guests. It is also possible to welcome guests into the accommodation at the right temperature, adapted to external conditions such as the weather. The system switches off the heating when guests are absent and automatically turns it on again when they return. To increase energy efficiency, Sharelock also switches off devices with increased energy consumption when guests are absent and shows which devices consume more than the average amount of energy.
– The cooperation between FIBARO and AUTORUN on Sharelock is a response to the real needs of the market. I am convinced that both tenants and homeowners will appreciate the comfort, savings and increased security provided by Sharelock. The FIBARO Smart Home system is modular and no renovation of the rental property is required. This enables the possibility of individual configuration and expansion with additional elements and devices
– says Szymon Ochociński, Head of Sales FIBARO.
