Warsaw, 21st August 2018 – Smart home system developed by Polish based company FIBARO are now included in the offer of one of the biggest mobile network operators in Japan – KDDI. The first FIBARO products to be available on this new market are the Wall Plug, Motion Sensor and Door/Window Sensor. The deal between both companies secures long term supply of three devices by Fibar Group S.A.

FIBARO is one of the few European, and the only company from Poland, to supply advanced consumer electronics to the demanding Japanese market. Several of the company’s devices, which are designed and manufactured at its site in Poznan, will now be included in the offer of one of Japan’s biggest telecommunications and Internet services providers – au by KDDI.

Securing a contract to supply our advanced electronics to a partner like KDDI is a great achievement. Firstly, we are starting cooperation with one of the biggest operators on the Japanese market. Secondly, we’re entering a market that is very demanding and has high expectations of companies from outside of Asia and the USA. Thirdly, we are the first consumer electronics company from Poland to successfully do this. It was a huge challenge since we had to adjust our devices to work on new frequencies and attain additional certificates for the Japanese market, and we also had to undergo the most extensive audit in our company’s 8-year history.

-said Krzysztof Banasiak, Fibar Group S.A., Board Member.

FIBARO’s smart home devices will expand au by KDDI’s product offer. KDDI offers its own smart home system based on Z-Wave protocols; one of the protocols that FIBARO’s products are compatible with.

Products for the Japanese Market

FIBARO’s devices have been redesigned and adapted to meet the requirements of the Japanese consumer electronics market. Among the adjustments that had to be made, it was necessary for FIBARO to attain new safety certificates and adjust the frequencies of the signals that the devices use for wireless communications. The first FIBARO devices to become available on the Japanese market are:

FIBARO Motion Sensor – a wireless battery-operated motion, light and temperature sensor. Its nature-inspired design and small size allow it to blend into any home environment, so it can be placed anywhere around a household. Once it detects motion, the Motion Sensor can send notifications to, for example, a user’s smartphone.

FIBARO Door/Window Sensor – the smallest wireless proximity sensor with temperature measurement functions currently available on the market. Thanks to its small size, the Door/Window Sensor is barely noticeable once installed by a door or window. It is available in 3 different colorways ( 7 in standard offer). The device will inform users if a door or window is opened and has been specially designed to notify users of an attempt to demount it, significantly increasing home security.

FIBARO Wall Plug – the Wall Plug is a smart electronical outlet which can monitor energy consumption levels. It is the smallest device of its kind available on the market. Installation is simple; all a user needs to do is plug it into an electrical outlet. The FIBARO Wall Plug monitors energy consumption levels and notifies users if, for example, a device such as a refrigerator suddenly stops working. Thanks to its unique and safe design, the Wall Plug also prevents any accidental electric shocks, a useful function if small children are around.
